Mayank Markanday has this week joined Architas as an investment manager. He will co-manage a number of portfolios including the Diversified Real Assets Fund, the Diversified Global Income Fund and the MM Monthly High Income Fund and act as deputy portfolio manager on the Multi-Asset Blended range. Mayank will also be the sector lead on UK fixed income and the fixed income side of the alternatives sector, such as asset-backed securities.
Mayank has over 10 years' experience in multi-asset and equity portfolio management and research. In his most recent roles at Russell Investments he was the portfolio manager of the Russell Real Assets Fund, deputy portfolio manager on the Russell Multi-Asset Growth Fund and Global Equity manager research analyst.
"Mayank has extensive experience in creating and running multi-asset and multi-manager portfolios. This fits perfectly with the Architas investment approach. While his fixed income and real assets knowledge means he is well suited to co-managing our range of specialist funds.
"Mayank will co-manage the Diversified Real Assets Fund that is now over £200mn just three years since launch. This fund continues to appeal to advisers who are seeking diversification within portfolios as well as a degree of inflation protection and a potential income stream.
"He will also manage the Diversified Global Income Fund and the Monthly High Income Fund which are both part of our suite of income funds. Given changes in the market, including the increased flexibility for those retiring, we believe demand will continue to grow for those products that can potentially deliver an income for clients."
Mayank has an honours degree in Actuarial Science and Finance from the University of New South Wales as well as a Masters equivalent in Quantitative Finance. He began working for Russell Investments in Sydney as an investment consultant. After being promoted to deputy portfolio manager he moved to London as a portfolio manager on a number of different funds. Mayank is a qualified Charted Financial Analyst.
